Ronaldo converted from the spot and Ryan Giggs - on his 758th record-equalling appearance record now shared with Sir Bobby - coolly scored in the 80th minute from a clever pass from Wayne Rooney. It sent fans into frenzy and undoubtedly, players and staff into early partying mood.
Meanwhile, Chelsea drew 1-1 at home against Bolton, so the title was not decided on goal difference as most people had expected.
